We have a link to a Smartsheet web form on our website and we want users to be able to download an excel file once they have filled in the form and not before.  Is this possible and if so, how is it done please?

To clarify you want them to attach an excel file to the web form? Or do you want to have the form download to and excel documnet for them?

To answer both versions of this. An attachment can de added to the form. You need to add to the form the file upload feature. That will allow them to attache an excel file to the form. That excel file is attached in smartsheet on the same row as the form. The attachement is only able to be opened when in smartsheet.

If you do a send form verification to yourself or to themselves you can show the excel attachment. It is not able to open it. It is just a verification that the form was entered and is in smartsheet.

If you want the user to get a form that is turned into an excel file. Have them use the send confirmation email and enter their email address. it comes as an image that you can copy out of the email and paste into excel.

    Hope that helps.

Hi Fraser! Is the Excel file, the same file that all users will download after submitting the form? If so, you could host the file on an online storage service (Box, Dropbox, Drive, etc) then set the form to navigate to that file after the user submits the form. To do this, open your form editor and go to Form Options. Here you can “Send the user to this URL” - just insert the URL of the Excel file.
