We tried outlook prior to this and it just didn't work for us.  It's really great how the team at Smartsheets is always improving their product and they really do take suggestions from their clients seriously.  This sounds great but to bad I don't have Outlook 2013.  Maybe I'll put a bug in the bosses ear.Wink

  • Hi - there's a significant chance I'm overlooking something obvious, but the link above appears to be to just the Outlook 365 integration.  I use Outlook 2013 (on our enterprise server) and am having trouble locating where to find the plug-in.

    Thanks for any help.

    Dustin

  • Are there plans to eventually be able to integrate OUtlook for Mac? Us Mac users always get left behind.

Hi Dustin and JBogert! I just spoke with our developers to confirm this for you - the integration requires an Office 365 subscription. You can use this on Outlook 2013 for Windows and Outlook for Mac (on Mavericks or later), but you will need Office 365 connected to Outlook to use it.

  • Travis, I am having the same problem but I do have a Office 365 account AND i have office 2013 on my Windows. how do we connect the 2 to load Smartsheet app?

  • Hi Travis. I just tried again making sure I was using  Windows pc that had Office365/Outlook 2013 loaded and it still does not work.

has anyone gotten this to work?

  • I am having the same issue as MMartinezEA above.

I have office 365 SBE edition, which allows you to have the desktop version of Outlook 2013, which is what I use.

I have been waiting for this type of integration for a while.

When I click your link above I am taken to the Microsoft store where I am prompted to click on "Add" to add the app.  When I click add I get the following message, "Switching to Outlook Web App

We’ll take you to your mailbox and finish installing Smartsheet for Outlook (Beta).

If you are not an Office 365 user or are not sure, click here.

When I click on Continue, I am directed to a general Office store with various apps, and there is no further direction.

If I click to explore the outlook apps, I do eventully find smartsheet for outlook, and when I click on it I am thrown in a loop that takes me in circles.

Are you sure this app can be used with Outlook 2013 desktop version?  I hope so.

    Eric

    Hi Eric and MMartinez,

Thanks for reaching out. There appears to be an issue with installing all mail apps in the Office store right now, so we have contacted Microsoft to look into it. We'll keep you updated.

Meanwhile, I was able to install the app by following these steps:

    1. Go to http://portal.office.com and sign into your O365 account.

    2. Go to the Smartsheet for Outlook app install page: https://store.office.com/smartsheet-for-outlook-beta-WA104379434.aspx?assetid=WA104379434

    3. Click Add.

    4. Click Continue.

    5. Click Yes.

The above steps install the app to your O365 account.

    After installing the app...

To use the app on Outlook Online:

    1 . Go to http://portal.office.com

    2. Click "Mail" to open Outlook Online.

    3. Click any email to preview it.

    4. You'll see the "Smartsheet (Beta)" tab above the body of the email. Click on it to launch the app.

To use the app on Outlook desktop:

    1. Launch outlook desktop.

    2. Open the Inbox of the same Office 365 account that you used to install the Smartsheet app.

    3. Click any email to preview it.

    4. You'll see the "Smartsheet (Beta)" tab above the body of the email. Click on it to launch the app.

For additional details on how to use the app (after you've installed it), please refer to our "Smartsheet for Outlook" support article: http://help.smartsheet.com/customer/portal/articles/1960482

Let us know if this helps. Thanks!

  • Didn't work.

After I click "add" (step 3), then "continue" (step 4), I do not get the option to select "yes" (step 5)

Instead I am directed to the following page:

  • Hi Eric,

Thanks for the update. Does the issue also occur when you attempt to install other apps for Outlook, like this one: https://store.office.com/docusign-for-outlook-WA104218067.aspx ? If so, there is some issue with the Office store & your setup, and I would recommend contacting Microsoft support at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus . They should be able to help after asking for specific troubleshooting details about your setup.

    Thanks,

    Daniel

  • Thank you Daniel. Your instructions from May 4, 2015 4:01 pm worked for me. I have a Mac and I was able to get the app both Online and on my client locally.

Can't wait to play around with this new feature and see what it can do.

  • JBogert, I'm Jealous.

  • Eric,

We're sorry to hear that you are still unable to install the app from the Office store. We'd like to share details of the app install issue you're experiencing with Microsoft so that they can look into it. Could you please let us know the following:

    - What browser/version are you using?

    - Does the issue still occur if you clear your cookies first (or use an incognito window)? Don't forget to try signing in at portal.office.com *after* clearing cookies and before attempting to install the app.

    - Are you able to install other apps for Outlook (besides Smartsheet) from store.office.com?

    - Are you able to install an app for a different Office app (e.g. Word) from store.office.com?

Thanks for taking the time to try these steps, which will help our friends at Microsoft to diagnose the issue.

    Best,

    Daniel
