Is it possible to reference a list on a separate sheet for the user to select as they input data into rows?For example; activity type, client name?

I have created a time sheet and would like users to reference the data in another sheet.

No, its not possible to populate a dropdown list from a separate sheet. You can access data from a separate sheet based on a selection from a dropdown using vlookup. Sorry.

Hi Rachel,

Here is a workaround that gives you the possibility to use lists of information and choose from that list inside a sheet (doesn't work with mobile, only desktop)

I'm utilizing cell-linking for this workaround. The main sheet is linked to the dropdown/list sheet.

Yes Andree, please share how you completed that. That is very interesting. Do the users have to be shared on the linked sheet to access it and select it?

Hey Andree, Is it possible to have a dropdown box point to the list is a sheet? Im using a form for timesheet data  entry and I would like to manage the list of projects (and task categories) in a separate list!! Thank you in advance. John

Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment without a third-party integration or a premium add-on, but it's a great idea!

While Andree's workaround works... It is just that. As a GC, I need to be able to update project names, employee names, etc. on a regular basis. These lists are used throughout MANY different sheets throughout our organization.

Smartsheet, please get this future up and running!!! Having to go around to MANY different sheets to update project lists or employee names or product options or...... Is ridiculous. This feature is needed!!! And also seems like it should be a pretty easy one to implement...???...
