Calculating Total Duration from my project sheet

I am new to smartsheet and I am trying to SUM the number of days from the "Duration" Column.  If I understand the Help files correctly, you can only use the SUM function in number fields? 

If I use only Days in my "Duration" column, is there a way to SUM up  a total at the bottom of my sheet?

Yes, but not in the same column. You can use Sum(Duration:Duration) assuming your duration column is called duration. This will sum the entire column. This will always update even when rows are added. 

Note: You can't put the sum in the same column and have it automatically do all the rows because it would create a circular reference and try to add that sum to the total and you'd have an infinitely increasting number.
