Today is not shown in report timeline of a dashboard

Hi,

I created a project timeline in SmartSheet.

The today's date is indicated with a dotted line in Gantt view as well as a report created based on the project sheet.

However, today's date was not shown when I included the report in a dashboard.

Can I do some setup so that today's date is indicated when the report widget is included in my dashboard?

 

I attached the screenshot of:

- Gantt view of original sheet

- Gantt view of report

- Gantt view of report as in as Dashboard.

You should be able to select "Today" as an option in your report builder. That would display it in your report and in turn displays in the report in your dashboard (see below).

Thanks for your reply but I don't think it works.

What I would like to see is a "vertical" line indicated today's date in the Gantt.  This would help me to show "where" I am from project schedule perspective.

This dotted vertical line does appear in the report itself but is not shown in the report widget (of the dashboard),

Anyone - I've not seen a response to Frank's issue. I have come across the same issue. How do we get the dotted line that reflects today's date in the REPORT to show up in the DASHBOARD WIDGET. Everyone from the Gannt view Report shows up except the dotted line.

I would hardly consider this functionality an "Enhancement" It seems more like an issue with the report widget. The setting to "Open to today's date" is available in both the Sheet and Report settings and it displays the dotted line, that Frank eludes to in his original question, in both. The report widget does not honor this setting when it renders the report.

I have entered this into the request system and discussed it with our technical representative.

Have you tried enabling the setting on the report then publishing it and using a Web Content Widget to display the report? I haven't tried it, but I do wonder if that would work.

Hi,

The workaround that Paul suggested works. You could use a Web Widget and a published report to get the functionality you need, but I agree that it should be a possibility in the report widget as well.

Hello,

I just wanted to pop in to say that I too would really appreciate it if the dotted line indicating today's date could be visible in the Dashboard widget. That little bit of context for the viewer is so helpful.

It's bizarre to me that it is visible in the source report, but "mysteriously disappears" once you embed the Gantt chart as a widget.
