not able to paste to the column with ID number

hi,

I have removed a number of rows from my smartsheet.

now I want to paste the data from another sheet but the system would not allow me to paste to the column with the doc ID number which fills in automatically. I would like to keep the original ID numbers therefore I would like to paste them from another sheet. What can I do to be able to do this?

You would have to create a new Text Column to paste the old Doc ID numbers into. All of the "Auto" columns are locked from editing.

Try turning off the Auto numbering, paste the existing numbers and then turn the Auto back on.
