Get values in card header display or get total items of a type without countif for each?

When viewing by a category in card view (think color), it places the number of items in that column in parenthesis next to the column title. All of the "blue" items are in the column and the column header is "Blue (22)", the next would be "Red (12)" and so on.

Is it possible to get that number for use in a dashboard (and a chart for example) instead of having to use a countif to count the individual items in each category in a column?

Or, is there an easier way to get the information needed for a chart instead of what i described earlier than by counting each option with a countif formula?

  • Hello,

All calculations needed for dashboard widgets must first be aggregated and calculated with formulas in a sheet before that information can be referenced.

There currently isn't a way to have dashboard widgets (metric, chart, etc.) calculate the data for you or reference the counts in Card view. You'll need to create formulas in a sheet.
