Rollup percentage in project schedule template is not calculating correctly

I'm using the project template in smartsheet, in grid view.  I've broken my project up in several phases, each phase a parent with child tasks.  The Project % complete is coming out as 99% complete, but it is far from being that complete.  Is there something I have to do to get this to calculate correctly, or do I have to manually do parent/child formulas?  If so, I would of though that the project smartsheet template would of handled that.

Please note that if I start a project with or without the Project information (first 6 rows of the project detail) the % complete doesn't change.

I would suggest checking which columns are being used in your dependency settings first.

    Hi Michele,

Great question! When using the % Completed column in the Project Settings, it calculates a weighted average. Since so many of your tasks do not have dates or a duration their weighting is zero. If you add expected dates, you'll see the % Complete update accordingly.

Let me know if this answers your question.
