This is not an ideal solution, but as a workaround you could add a space to the url. It seems to break the link.

Thanks for the link to submit the feature request. I've done so, as adding a space into the 56 entries I just pasted into my sheet is a pain in the a**.
-
Happy to help!

This seems more like a bug than an enhancement request for me since there is a Smartsheet guide telling it is possible to remove the link and keep the display text, thus I would contact support

+1. FIX THIS. I don't want to resubmit. I need to get back to work.
-
Has this been fixed? It's quite cumbersome to have to delete the entire link and retype everything

I am surprised why Smartsheet has not addressed the issue until now. It is a bug and not a feature - I agree.
Adding space at the end of the URL kept the hyperlink intact.

Adding a space at the end of the URL kept my hyperlink intact as well.
It would be nice to be able to remove a hyperlink, but keep the text in the cell.
-
+1 on the ability to remove hyperlink. Please implement this basic functionality.
-
I found a workaround. Select the cell with the link. Copy. Paste Special… Choose Values and click OK.
-
Please add this functionality. It's basic website formatting.
-
Seems there still isn't a proper way to remove a hyperlink to a field added in error!
