Cell linking between multiple sheets
I have 2 sheets I am working with that both have columns titled "Delivery Date". Sheet #1 is my "Initial Order" sheet, where I leave the "Delivery Date" blank. Sheet #2 is for my Production Manager. He also has a column titled "Delivry Date". When he enters what he expects the "Delivery Date" to be based on current production, I want it to automatically link to my "Initial Order" Sheet. It seems like I can only link cells that currently have data in them.
Are there any solutions?

Hi Shawn, an idea can be to fill this field with a phantom date, like 1900-01-01. That makes clear, also to your PM, that the date needs to be filled in. An extra color via Conditional Formatting can help..

A little secret - change the background color of the column to white - or any color you'd like. You can then link to it.

Either of the ideas above will work. Also, I saw this in the Cell Linking article:
http://help.smartsheet.com/customer/en/portal/articles/861579-cell-linking
NOTE: Linking occurs at the cell level, as opposed to the sheet, row, or column level. Only existing cells that contain data, or previously contained data, can be linked into a destination sheet.
You could enter data, save the sheet, set up the cell linking and then delete the data.

Rob, Christine, Tim,
Thank you all for your responses. I tried all 3 suggestions, and all seem to work. Thank you again.
