Row ID - Automatic numbering Suffix for Childrows

Hi Smartsheeters,

is there a way to use the auto numbering column with a logic to change the main "fill" part in respect to the parent row and the "suffix" part with the children?

Lets say my auto-numbering has the following syntax: abc000-00

We have two parent rows with each 2 child rows. I want to see the following

abc001-00 (Parent)

abc001-01

abc001-02

abc002-00 (Parent)

abc002-01

abc002-02

This would help referencing in a team as basically everything abc001- refers to one "project part"

Andree is correct. SS does not currently offer any kind of WBS. I have created a system of formulas as a workaround though. It is not flexible, and the more levels you add, the more convoluted it gets. I quit after 1.1.1.1.

Depending on your use, it very well may be easier to manually enter everything.

If you don't mind lack of flexibility (doesn't hold up to sorting) and can get away with only 4 levels, feel free to check it out.

Yes, my idea is basically having a Auto-numbering in combination with some kind of WBS system. I have worked with such clunky WBS formulas in Excel myself, and indeed it came to a point when frustration takes over the usefulness.
