Drop down list data from column in another sheet

This would be SUPER helpful! Having to add data in a dropdown list that could be automatically retrieved by data in another sheet seems so antiquated.  The contacts is a great example of housing data in one area and being able to select that data with drop down menu in any sheet.  I know there is a lot more involved but the technology is already there and in place.

Looking at pursuing some complex integration for single source data across multiple departments and features like these would immensely help SS adoption.

Just adding my vote to this thread.

My application is fairly simple and could be handled with sub-tasks, but it would be much easier if a relational database like feature was available.

For my case, I have a release for shipment from a customer. It may take 2 or 3 shipments to complete and I need to associate each shipment to that original release to know when it is complete and can be closed out.

So, Smartsheet just added VLookup. FYI, the engine SS needs for Data Validation functionality was created for that enhancement... You guys already have it built!

With the newest release being primarily cross sheet functionality are we any closer to populating drop down columns with data in a column from another sheet?

Please add this functionality. We use SS for a lot of different applications, and having the ability to centrally locate information for drop downs and grab from there would be a significant improvement and, as others have mentioned, would help us with data control. +1
