IDEA: Create Cross-sheet references from reports

Just want to throw this out there. I am referencing three rather large sheets and trying to bring in some COUNTIF data but keep getting told that I am referencing too many cells. This is prohibiting me from creating the data I need.

It would be great if you could do cross-sheet references from reports. This would allow me to filter-down the data I need before I actually do the reference, therefore linking fewer cells.

Sorry - I got a bit lost...! Do you mean being able to reference individual columns, as opposed to one big block that includes all the columns in between?

I've had that issue with SUMIF and ended up creating a 'duplicate' column closer to the second column I needed to reference, just to make the formula work!

Hi Kirstine, I have several large sheets that I wanted to combine into roll-up data on a single new sheet. What I discovered is that after doing a Countifs formula looking at 5 different columns of criteria on the first sheet, I wasn't able to do the same thing with the same 5 columns on the second sheet. I got a message that my current sheet had reached the 25,000 cell linking reference.

My thoughts are... if I can create a report that pares down the data I need to just the rows I need, then a cross-report reference would allow me to look at less rows and allow me to link in more sheets.

I'd love this too. I submitted a request a few months back for this very thing.

This feature would be extremely helpful, even for those of us who aren't managing large numbers of rows. I hate to have to re-create the logic used in a report each time I need a COUNT or COUNTIF. It would be much easier to pull from reports that already display the data I need.
