Notification of changes to ANY email address

Hi,

I would like to provide alerts to some users who may not be a collaborator on a sheet but rather an interested party who is monitoring an embedded sheet on a web page.  As people enter data into the sheet via a webform, I would like to be able to send a notification to any email address so they can be alerted to go look at the embedded form, even though they are not a collaborator on the sheet itself.

Or another option would be an option for any user to subscribe to changes on a sheet so individuals can opt in to alerts on their own.

I hope that makes sense.

Thanks,

Barry

    Good morning Barry,

Currently notifications are only sent to those who the sheet has been shared.  One option though, is that you could create a report to pull only the information the non-collabotaors would need and set-up a recurring "Send Attachment" report.  The person would receive periodic emails with information and they could choose to opt-out by replying to the email asking to un-subscribe.  You would then remove them from the mailing list.  You would only have to do this for the people for who the sheet is not shared.

  • To build on what Chuck said, you can create a report that shows only rows that were modified in the last X days. Just use the Modified (Date) column as a criteria.

This functionality would be important for me as well. What I would like to do is to send notifications to specific email addresses that are on a sheet. It makes sense when I want to inform a client (who is evidently not a shared user) when something happens to his/her data (i.e. an approval is checked). Reports don't help at this point (I should build a lot, and I would like to automate things like this).
