Alerts notification

Does an alert stay active even if a sheet is not open?

I had a master sheet that I created, added notifications to it, then saved it as a new document for this week (it tracks things weekly) and all of my alerts have gone.

 

I assume they still remain active and my sales reps will get the daily notification sheets but it is quite inconvenienent for them not to transfer to the new sheet.

 

Am I missing something?

    Yes, alerts will stay active if a sheet is not opened. It sounds like you made a copy of your sheet correct? When you make a copy (save as new) alerts will not be included in the new sheet. You would need to add the alerts to the new sheet after making the copy.
