Can you set a "Do not remind if..." rule on alerts?

Hi,

I have set some alerts to remind of upcoming service dates. Is there a way to set up "Do not remind if.." ? For example, I would like the items that have a column box ticked to not be included in the reminder.

I read the blog - seems like a managable workaround to conditional reminders, granted you have the abilty to support additional columns in your view.

I'd like to see conditions built into the reminder feature. It is very common that I just want to remind someone that a task is overdue (ONLY if it hasn not been marked completed).
