Send a notification to an email address submitted in form.
Hello,
I am currently using SmartSheets for our staffing agencies to submit potential candidates to open requisitions. On our side of smartsheet, we have a drop down with the "status" of the candidate (Pending, submitted to hiring manager, rejected, hired, etc) that helps us process submissions. When an agency submits a candidate to us for consideration, they add the agency email address in the submission form.
Is there a way that when we make a change to status, the email address for that agency that was submitted in that specific form is notified of the change?

Hi,
Yes, you could use that and set up an alert thru the Alerts & Actions to inform them of the status change.

Hi Andree,
Thanks for your reply. I have added a contacts field in the form which collect the external persons email address when they submit a form. I have alerts set up as shown in the attached image, yet the email that is entered by the form submitter is not getting notified when a change is made to the row.
Please advise

Can you check the Alerts & Actions Permissions so that it's set to Unrestricted?

Is there a way for a notification to be sent to the submitter based off of their user email, rather than having that be a column where they need to type that information?

Yes, you can use the system column, Created by as long as the user has to be logged in to submit the form.
Make sense?

Hello,
Is there a way to communicate with the person who submits a form through Smartsheet? If there is and that person replies to the email notification, would that come back to me through Smartsheet or regular email?

If you request an email in the form, or if you require a log-in to submit the form and have a Created By column like Andree suggests, you can send automated workflow emails to the person in that cell. If the user replies to these workflow alerts, it will send back as an email to the email address of the owner of the sheet (this depends on how your workflow is set up, though).
Could you perhaps go in to more detail about your specific scenario? There are other alternatives, like setting up automated Update Requests where their entries would update the sheet directly within Smartsheet.

It would be Ideal for the email notification 'customize massage' window to provide the ability to change;
- The "from address" as free text "e.g. noreply@companydomain.com" or a checkbox "sheet owner(s)".
- The "reply to address" as free text "e.g. <distribution group or person>@companydomain.com" or a checkbox "sheet owner(s)".
This will help because it allows end-users to interact/reply to the notification.
Additionally, is it possible the link sent in the notification upon form completion takes the user back to the completed form, where they could make amendments?
Please could you submit these as enhancement requests?
