Enhancement Request

Ability to require text input into a column for approval requests. This would allow the approver to explain the reason for approval or decline.

Right now I have an update request based on the approval column, but this requires 2 separate emails. I can use a dropdown with an update request and lock the columns, but that adds other functionality issues (Editors lose the level of permissions they had in the rows forcing me to make more admins and give drastically more potential to break my sheets)

I have submitted a feature request to smartsheet.

    Can you explain more about your setup? There may be a workaround that (while it doesn't FORCE data entry) it will definitely bring it to people's attention that data needs to be entered.

    The one that brought this up is just simple approval request chain, but I have many examples that I would like to use this for. Manger approval, department approval, facility approval, then purchasing approval. Each approval is dependent upon the previous, and sends based on the change in the approval column. There is a small twist in the facility level that uses a calculation to report the correct facility manager to send the report to, but in the end is just another criteria. 

    I mean I could develop another sheet with a webform and use formulas to calculate the approval, but I would prefer not to have to do all that.
