How many characters are allowed per comment?
I don't know the if there is a limit or not but I can say you can put a lot of information into a comment. I frequently use the smartsheet add-in for outlook which sends the body of the email into the comments field.

If I'm not mistaken, the limit is 4000 characters.

I tested the comment limit and turns out it is 10,000 characters.
The limit of 4,000 characters applies for individual cells within a sheet.
