Hi All,
I am not able to reset my auto number column recently.
I followed the instruction at the bottom of the page:https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/1108408-auto-numbering-rows#create
But it no longer works.
I did it before, but not sure what changed.
Thank you all for help
Edward
It is working for me. Are you making sure to Save in between each step and refreshing the sheet after deleting/saving?
I followed the steps and save in between each step.
It still memorizing the sequential number from previous column
You may want to reach out to Smartsheet Support as this should be working for you if you are following the proper steps.
Hi Edwang,
When creating the new Auto-Number column, you'll want to make sure to set the starting number to one or zero (or a number appropriate to your case). For example, if your numbering pattern is 00x, set the starting value to 001 or 000. By doing this, you'll re-start the sequence.
This isn't working for me. If I set the starting value to 0, it just starts at 1. If I set the starting value to 0000, which matches the format, it tells me "Invalid Value".
I really don't want to have to recreate this sheet from scratch again. This is very frustrating.
Hi! I recently was frustrated by this issue as well and finally figured out a solution. Posting for others.
I followed the instructions in this article:

The key is that you have to convert your sheet to GRID. The auto-number will NOT reset if you are in TABLE mode. What I did (since I like to work in Table) is switch to Grid, reset using the steps in the article, and then switch back to Table mode.
Hello. I need to send a sheet to multiple different people and I want them to only be able to interact with their specific row. Is this possible? eg: 10 rows(person A, comment) I want Row 1 to go to person A and for them to only see their row and only comment in their specific section, Row 2 → person B, etc, etc. Any help…

I've got a sheet set up with multiple tasks assigned to different people. When printing the sheet the comments are all listed at the bottom of the sheet rather than under the relevant tasks. Is there a setting that allows the comments to be printed under each task ?
