How t set a default value to Symbol column
Hello!
I have a symbol column with 3 options representing payment status, (Yes, No, Hold).
By default it should be "Hold" until the user choses if the payment was accepted or rejected, so what I would like is that whenever a new row is filled, the symbol cell should be set to "Hold" by default. I know formulas don't work with dropdown lists, but I don't know if there's an option to set it to Hold by default without a formula.
Thank you in advance

Hi Adam,
How are the rows added to the sheet?

Hi Andrée
the rows are added manually in smartsheet

Ok.
Do they have to be added manually in the sheet?
It could be solved with a form, and it could also be solved if the adjacent rows have the correct structure.
Best,
Andrée

I agree with Andree. You can provide hidden default settings with a form, so if your user would populate the sheet with a form, that would allow you to set the default value of the field.
