It would be really nice to be able to create profiles for the users that incorporate their photo as well as their text data. Preferably with the ability to auto populate a user photo column if the user is selected from a dropdown box.
Good idea Brad! Images in grid are a new functionality and I know the devs are looking for ways to improve it. I will pass this suggesting along!
As far as populating data (not just photos) when you select an option from a dropdown list, this would be achieved with a VLOOKUP functionality which is something currently in development.
Internally we have a Team Contact List with all Smartsheet employees with information on that employee. Name, department, contact info, etc. We also include a photo of each employee in their row. These rows or data can be copied to another sheet if needed.
