Formula to count number of task

Hi,

I need help with adding a formulat to count the number of task.  I tried adding the formula but it didn't count the task it adds it to the number of task for the above row.  I'm fairly new to smartsheet so it's taking me a minute to figure out the formulas. Any help will be great appreciated. 

This is the formula I used.

="# of Grants May - " + COUNT(CHILDREN())

I need to calculate the # of Grants we have per month.  Row 23 will be the # of grants we have for the month of May.  When I entered the task for May it didn't calculate on Row 23 it added the # of grants to the # of grants for April. I have attached an example of what I am referring to and how it should be.  Thanks for taking the time to help.

Row 23 is indented (so it is a child of April)

Click on the data in Funding Mechanism Row 23 and press your Outdent button (7th button on your toolbar (next to the Filter button)).  This will change your formula and May will behave again.
