Recognizing Children from Form Entries
We are creating a sheet that most employees will use a Form to request time off. Is there a way to get the sheet to recognize the employee's name and automatically generate on the sheet under that person instead of at the bottom of the sheet?
Or is there a formula that will recognize the name and automatically generate the information under the parent?

Unfortunately this is not possible. Hierarchies cannot be automated, and the forms can ONLY populate the bottom or top row of a sheet.
Depending on your needs, some SUMIFS formulas on a Metrics sheet may be a solution.

Agree Paul - we had a similar use case for time off requests and went with a separate sheet to capture totals by person.

how do we get the option to create a form with children? I have jobs with multiple POs and multiple line items per PO. I don't want to rely on the end user to enter the data and indent properly. Any other options? Lori

Hi Lori,
At this time we do not have a way for forms to create children rows. When you have a moment, please submit a Product Enhancement Request to let our Product team know that you'd like to have this functionality in Smartsheet.
We appreciate your input!
