"COUNT" function with link to another sheet

I'm trying to set a "count" function to count the number of records in a specific column of another sheet, in order to allow a continuous screening of the recordings in that sheet. But the function can't be set as long as the targeted column is still empty. Is there any possibility to overcome that issue? Or even could it be possible to allow the setting of that function even if the column is "empty"?

I've never had a problem referencing an (at the time) empty column. Are you able to provide some screenshots?
