PDF Exports
Hi Everyone,
Is there a way to export a row to PDF but select the columns that you want to include? At present, I'm printing the row and saving to PDF; however, I can only select to either include or not include comments and hidden columns. Clicking File and export to PDF does not give me the option to select columns and also doesn't look good.
I use the sheet for non-conformance reporting and each row may have a different customer. Once the NCR is signed-off, the PDF is sent to the customer with all relevant information; however, things like rework costs and the names of the investigators shouldn't go to the customer. Hiding the columns is tedious and every collaborator needs the ability to export but not every collaborator has permissions to hide columns.
Any guidance would be appreciated!

Hi Dan,
Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment to select what columns to print/export, but it's a great idea!
Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.
Here are a few workarounds.
You could either use a report, send row to yourself or connect Smartsheet with Google Docs or similar and create a template and then you could create all the PDF's one by one or all in one go and you can also automatically send them to the correct customer and save to the customer's row.
Would any of those options work?
Have a fantastic week!

Thanks Andrée!
I'll give the workarounds a go in the meantime.

Dan,
When you export to PDF, it should only show the columns that are not "hidden". You can hide whatever columns you don't want to export/print then select your row.

Good tip, Paul. Thanks. I was going to also recommend like Andree, creating a report to print from. Especially if you are planning on printing this report more than once. The report will aggregate the data and columns that you want, and only include that data pulling from the main sheet. It would always be handy and available to print without you needing to manually show or hide columns each time.
