I would recommend going with @Andrée Starå's more recent suggestion: instead of using the TODAY function which would need to be updated each day, you could use a Record a Date workflow to record today's date in a cell.

Maybe I am being dense, but could you walk me through how that would allow the metric data to be recorded on a specific date without the issue of the data disappearing the following day when it's no longer that date?

Can you post screen captures of your current set-up and a description of what you're attempting to accomplish?

The Record a Date workflow can record today's date at a specific time, updating any formulas looking at that cell. If you then want to have the previous day's information stored somewhere, I would use a Copy Row workflow to trigger before the new date is recorded, copying data to a sheet that stores historical information. That way you can see the changes over time next to each other.

Sorry for the beginner question - what type of sheet is the data being copied to? Is it a new project sheet?
