Managing dropdown list selections from another sheet

Hi all... My company has an ever-evolving list of clients. I'm looking to utilize a dropdown list for users to select the client instead of asking them to type it in (eliminate keystroke errors and inconsistent naming). Being the client list is frequently updated, is it possible to manage this through a separate "linked" sheet so dropdowns don't have to be updated in multiple places?

Without distracting anyone's attention from SBP's solution, I would like to draw Kate and Kennedy's (the new Community managers') attention to this topic that bobs up about every month here in the discussions. Namely the issue of dynamic lists. As I've mentioned before (and I will), this is my favorite topic and most wanted feature (and not only mine, as one can see after a quick search).

Hi Atus,

While this isn't on our Product Roadmap as Travis noted, creating dynamic dropdown columns that link to another sheet (or some other column/row within the same sheet) is on our Enhancement Request list, and we've got your vote!

In the meantime, the best option would be to use an API service like Azuqua, as Craig's suggested.

This might help!

Here is a workaround that gives you the possibility to use lists of information and choose from that list inside a sheet (doesn't work with mobile, only desktop)

I'm utilizing cell-linking for this workaround. The main sheet is linked to the dropdown/list sheet.

Have you checked out www.ddupdate.com ?

It updates drop down values from any column in any sheet.

Pretty seamless integration. Just login and select the source and the destination and you're dropdown is updated.

This is GREAT!!! BUT... I need a quick way to copy and paste the cell and include the "Link from other cell in other sheet". If you copy from the LIST, you can paste special, but only once cell at a time. Are you aware of a way to copy the cell and paste it to multiple cells - with the link in place?

You can use paste special to cell-link up to 500 links at a time. You must change between the sheets in the same browser tab and then it will work.
