Adding my vote also - I realize I can get everyone to create a rule to route the messages, but that's a pain. This needs to be an option.

I am wondering if there is any movement on this. I also vote for being able to turn this off, or adding a checkbox on the update request form for if the person wants a confirmation.

Adding my vote. The point about PHI is a show-stopper for using the approval processes for so many use cases! Please provide a way to turn these off!
