How do I highlight columns on a gnatt chart

Take a close look at Conditional Formatting on the tool bar and use the colour choices to turn your Gantt bars into a more clourful display. The only thing you cannot change is the colour of the Parent Gantt bar, which remains Grey.
We humans respond well to colour for absorbing complex data!

Yes it does but make sure you run the rules in the right order so you get the outcome you seek.
