Move sheets created by others into my Workspace

We have multiple licensed users, each of which creates their own sheets. But we want to organize the sheets by project workspace, which I've created as the PMO Director. Why can't the sheet owner or I move the sheets into the workspace created by me? If we can, please explain how. I'm at a loss. Thanks

This will probably help.

Here are some reasons that may cause this behavior:

• You don't have the correct permissions (see below).
• You're attempting to move an item to an area of Smartsheet that can't host it. For example, you can't drag a sheet into the Workspaces heading.

To successfully move an item to or from a workspace, here are some things to keep in mind:

• You must be the workspace Owner or have Admin-level permissions to the workspace to create items, move items, or delete items from it.
• You must be the Owner of any items that you're moving into a workspace
• If you are attempting to move an item from one workspace to another, you'll need the appropriate permissions in both workspaces.
• Moving an item out of a workspace will make you the owner of that item. You must have a license to own items; therefore, only licensed users can move an item out of a workspace. (Not sure whether you have a license? See Identify Your Smartsheet Plan and User Type.)

Hi Andree,

Thanks for your comment, but unfortunately you've confirmed what I didn't want to hear:

You must be the Owner of any items that you're moving into a workspace

We need the ability for ANY sheet owner to put their sheets in the workspace I created.

The best option seems to add the users as Admin of the Workspace.
