Triggering an email alert when a specific cell changes

New Community member using a demo account but on the verge of committing. Despite going through the vids and training material, I can't figure out an alert that I KNOW has a simple solution.

I simply want to create an alert and send an email to someone when a specific cell changes. Specifically, I have a workflow of about 30 rows and a "Done" column.  For 3 or 4 of these rows, checking the Done column needs to trigger an email to the next group that conditions have been met for them to begin their tasks. When I build the Alert, my trigger is "When Rows are Changed"  and condition is "When Done is Checked" which results in the "Alert Someone" . The problem is that this covers the entire worksheet, and I can't figure out how to add a condition to specify the row or cell.

Thanks for any input to help out this rookie. I promise to get better....

We need to restrict what the alert will trigger for with conditions. What other columns do you have?

Can you describe your process in more detail and maybe share some screenshots? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help.

Just set a flag on the rows you want to trigger the update request on and add that to the criteria.

I agree with aclay if it works to add a flag or similar that would be the simplest solution.

I am also trying to trigger an alert when a specific cell is less than a set value and cannot figure a way to only get a notification when just that cell drops below. It is sending me updates when any value in the column drops below the threshold I have set.

Hi @Joseph Adams

You'll want to add in a Condition so that the workflow knows which row to look at, to find that column/cell. (See Here for more information on Condition blocks.)

This condition could be something that's already in your sheet (for example, that the Primary Column has a specific value), or you may want to add in a Helper Column to indicate which row (like a checkbox column with the box checked).

I want to alert someone when the % Reject exceeds a certain limit on a weekly basis. No alert if it is ok, send an alert if it exceeds the limit. How to do it?

Hey @fjtoh

You can set the trigger to be when the % Rejected changes, then have a Condition Block stating your desired criteria. Keep in mind that percentages are seen as decimals, so 1% = 0.01 in your Condition:
