How to enter a foot mark?

I have a field I enter either the inch mark into ( " ) - that works, but when I enter a single mark, for foot, as in 3 ' x 3 ' - a measurement, where the foot mark is the ONLY thing in the column it just goes to blank instead of retaining that one character.

If you just enter two apostrophes it should work! The cell will only show one (even though you hit the key twice).
