Notify When Task Added

Is there a way to set up a notification for when a task is added and assigned to you?

If you enable alerts for any changes you cou have this emailed as notification .

For limited cases, I add a checkbox column with a formula to be checked when the Assigned To matches a specific person. Then I add a Notifcation if the check box changes to that person.
If the Assigned To changes to them or from them to someone else, they get notfiied.
Works OK for small groups (less than 10 or so- the formula is easy to set up, just add browser overhead) and small sheets (less than 1000 rows or so) - really depends on the total number of cells with formulas.

Soooooooooo stupid that this isn't built in. So dumb that we need to create multiple columns and convoluted logic just to accomplish this basic-level task.
