Count Dates

Hello, I have a date column. I need to be able to count the number of dates in the column. Is there any way to do that without having to create another column using checkboxes? It would be nice if Smartsheet supported the COUNTA function.

You can't put a non-date value in a date-type column, so you will be required to do this in a separate column. If your date column is named "Date," then the formula in some Number/Text-type field is =COUNT(Date:Date). If you want to do this with hierarchy, then there is documentaiton on that in the help center.

Thanks John, it never occurred to me to make it a Number/Text column. How could I use =COUNT(Date:Date) and also exclude cells containing NA?

This can be done indirectly by first counting all the values in that column, then subtracting from that, the count of the N/A values. It looks like this: 

 

=COUNT(Date:Date) - COUNTIF(Date:Date, "N/A")

 

If you mistype N/A, this won't work.
