Where is referenced field

Ok, first, I took over this sheet, report, dashboard from a former employee and out of nowhere a sheet stopped working. I know the problem, just trying to determine how this happened and how I can fix it.

There is a cell with a formula. The formula references a field in some other sheet. How can I determine where it is? 

If i just click on the reference in the formula, it opens the formula popup and allow me to click on Reference Another Sheet and I have to select something. Nothing is highlighted as if it already knows where it is currently referencing.

This leads me to believe someone may have removed some dependency for this formula. I need to find out where or what that is/was.

Is there a way to see this?

Hi and thanks for your reply. I had an awakening and realized the referenced field was a cell (column) in that same worksheet. I believe the formula got accidentally removed from the sheet whereas in another similar sheet it was there. All is working as it should.
