Sort Children without affecting Parent Row

Happy Friday-eve!

 

Is there a way to 'sort' Chidren only.

 

I have a small but important Inventory list - Parent Row reflects Brand - Children reflect actual equipment. I then also have GTrandchildren to show when Children (equipment) have been out on loan and have returned and the current status.

 

I'd like to sort Children (alphabetically) and subsequent Grandchildren) WITHIN the parnet rows... can I do this???

 

When I right click 'Sort by' is greyed out... have I missed something? See Parent Child Grahdchild rows here:

Seems my coffee hadn't kicked in. You cannot sort when you have a filter applied... correct???

 

Well I removed my filter and sorted with no hassles, repplied filter - A-OK!!
