Exported PDF defaults to print when opened in PDF reader

So has anyone else experienced this? I have the feeling it has started recently, when I export a PDF and open it wit hany PDF reader it opens up the print dialog in the reader.

If I restrict the use of javascript in the reader I use, the print dialog doesnt show up so I suspect there is some funky javascript thingy going on here...

Is there a way to turn this off when I export?

I downloaded and opened the file in a couple of different viewers, and it didn't open the print dialog.

I did the same thing but selected Print, and in Acrobat it opens the print dialog but not in any other that I tried.

It's working fine for me, and I haven't seen anything strange previously.

I tested on a mac, and if I remember correctly, you are using a PC, right?

Hi Andrée, you mean that your pdf export doesn't open with the print dialog in an external reader?

I am currently using PC and Bluebeam Revu as PDF reader. Have also tried Foxit reader and Acrobat reader with same result.

When I set a restriction on running Javascript in the reader the print dialog doesnt show up when document is opened.

What are you exporting more specifically?

To be clear, what I am doing is printing to PDF!

When I print in Chrome it opens a new tab with the PDF and then I can print from there.

Yes, same here. But if I download it instead and open that file up with an external PDF viewer, the print dialog is activated by default.

But since this PDF is generated from the print command and not the export command, it might be a feature and not a bug...

Well, for now I'll stick to export to PDF instead of using the print icon. Seems to get rid of the print dialog...

I have sent this to support, but they seem swamped with things...

Hi,

is the question answered so far? Otherwise: if you use the print function in smartsheet, smarsheet opens a PDF with "Autoprint" setting in a new tab, so that your browser directly opens the printing dialog. If you now download this PDF and open it with your PDF viewer on you PC or Mac, the PDF viewer will also directly open the printing menue.

The right way to export from smartsheet to PDF is to use the export function.
