Can I break down my main sheet into sub-sheets?

Hello,

Wondering if there is a way to break down my main sheet into sub sheets. The reason for this, is that my main sheet has a lot of data used to support a report and dashboard. I would like to make additional dashboards for specific groups. I don't want to build filters into my sheet summary that will reflect this, because i'd end up with far too many fields. Don't want it to be confusing for others. The main sheet is wear all changes would be made. So i would need to link any new changes to the smaller sheets. Any advice would be appreciated.

To me it sounds like we could structure something with cross-sheet formulas but there might be other options as well. Will they need to able to change other data on the other smaller sheets?

Would cross-sheet formulas work?

Can you describe your process in more detail and maybe share the sheet(s)/copies of the sheet(s) or some screenshots? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help. (share too, andree@getdone.se)

Thank you for your response. I'm fairly new with smartsheet, and not really familiar with corss-sheet formulas. I'll research and try it. And no changes would be made in the smaller sheets. They would basically be for me only, in order to produce a dashboard based off of specific groups. But the main sheet continuously gets changed. So I would need the changed info to be automatically updated into the smaller sheets.

Depending on the structure of the main sheet we might be able to use cell-links instead of cross-sheet formulas.

Another idea could be to use reports instead of smaller sheets.

How do you want to show the information in the dashboard?

I was thinking I could do it with reports, since I need them for part of my dashboard anyways. But the problem is, i'm using formulas in sheet summary. I would need to create the report based off of sheet summary rather than grid. When I pick sheet summary, i'm not able to filter by the specific group. When I pick grid, i'm not able to see all the formulas I have already built in the sheet summary.

My dashboard has metric, chart, report, title, and web content widgets.

Ok.

Maybe it could be better to create a so-called Master Metric sheet and collect everything and calculate on the data on that sheet.

Instead of using the sheet summary? So make a column for each formula I want to use?

It could be a column for each or a specific row or section for all the metrics.

If all the metrics are on a row/section it's easier to cell-link.
