How do I create a condition when a specific drop down item is selected that an email is sent ?

Using a moble app, VSI (vehicle safety inspection) I would like the ability to have an email sent to my Fleet group that alerts them when certain drop down items are selected. For example, if there are issues with the brakes and they select "Problem, Requires Attention" or when they have an expired registration or inspection sticker, and they select, "Problem, Requires Attention".

 

We are checking the sheet daily but there are risks we would rather react to immediately to minimize or eliminate failures.

 

Your help or guideance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello David—just as Benjamin mentioned, we're working on developing the feature you're looking for in Smartsheet.

 

In the mean time; however, you might consider creating an additional Text/Number column in your sheet, then place an IF statement in the column that will return a value when your specific status has been chosen. An example of this type of formula is as follows:

 

=IF([Status]1 = "Problem, Requires Attention", "Notify Me")

 

You can then create a notification that will send you an email right away when anything in the new Text/Number column changes. Typically Notification emails are aggrigated and sent out in ~5min or less.
