Avoid Overallocation
Hello,
I have a project that I want to undersand where the go-live date would go based my actual capcticy of resources without overallocating them. Is that possible to do ?
So, if someone is 200% the start/end time of one of the tasks would changed to avoid it (still respecting its predecessors). I have tried to put a lower allocation % but the final date is not being calculated.. so if a task ahs 8h with a 8h working days and the resource is 50% to it, it would take 2 days for that task and it still being 1 like if he was 100%.
Im talking about the same project, not cross project.

Hi Dan,
There currently isn't a way to adjust Project dates based on percent allocation in Smartsheet. You would need to adjust the duration manually to change the dates if the person on the project needs more time. (Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a minute!)
In regards to your 8h scenario, if you put 50% as the allocation, this indicates that your user is only assigned to 50%, or 4 hours of the task (versus that they need to complete the entire task, but can only work for 50% each day).
You would want to break down the task to be two tasks of 4 hours each day, with the user allocated to 100% of each task (they are assigned to the full task). This other community post has an example of what this could look like:

Let me know if you have any other use-cases and I'm happy to help explain further!
