Attachment Security / Scanning
Hello,
Does anyone know if Smartsheet has any virus scanning or other security/anti-malware features applied to file uploads and attachments? I just want to see how much effort and trust we should place in file attachments received via form uploads from our clients.
Apologies if this is addressed in a help article - nothing really came up via a quick search.
Thanks!

Hi Gordon,
I think it's not detailed anywhere, but I assume that it's scanned/checked to keep the plattform safe and secure.
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic week!

Andree,
Thanks for the feedback. I hope someone from Smartsheet sees this post and can comment.
In the meantime, I'm going to check their security policy on the main site.

Happy to help!
I had a quick look at the security policy, but didn't see anything specific. Let me know if you find anything.

From my experience, attached files in SmartSheets are stored unencrypted in AWS. And there is no information anywhere that they are scanned for viruses. Attachments in SmartSheet represent one of biggest flaws and security vulnerabilities that I have found. FYI @Andrée Starå
An official response from SmartSheets for these concerns would be nice

I’m currently looking for this an exact clarification to see if an outside user submits an attachment via a form submissions or update request. Is that attachment scanned/reviewed before it hits our sheet. If it is, what then happens to the file if a threat is found and/or would we be alerted?
If there is documentation on this that would be super helpful. Thank you, Michael
