Quick way to convert text to Contact List items

Hello. I'm working on importing resource allocation data from an external source into Smartsheet. This includes thousands of rows of data, including a column of employees names in text form. Is there a quick way to convert an employee's name from text to their name from our Contact List (so it appears in the Resource View)? Find/Replace doesn't seem to allow replacing with a Contact List item. Thanks!

As another option, would it be possible to import their email addresses instead of names?
