Are Hammock tasks still not supported?
Hi there:
I'd like to Hammock (as in MS Project - (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/141733), that is, the ability to automatically adjust the duration of a task (start/end date) to the value of a cell in the same sheet.
This is extremely useful to monitor Slacks between key tasks.
As of 2015, it appeared not supported (https://community.smartsheet.com/discussion/440/do-you-support-hammock)

Hi Alberto,
You're correct, Smartsheet does not have the same "hammock" functionality as MS Project. The alternatives mentioned in the comments of the post you linked to would be what I would suggest:
"Alternatively you can create two children beneath the task you want as a hammock.
The first child task will be a milestone referring to the starting date.
The second child task will be a milestone referring to the end date.
As a consequence, the hammock task being the parent of such children will position across both start and end dates = both milestone-children."
If this won't work for you, please submit an Enhancement Request to let our Product Team know what you would like to see. Thanks!

Thank you for your answer. Your solution may work but it is not ideal.
This is about the ability to link cells within the same sheet. You should understand the value and drive the request accordingly.
