Calculate due date based on start date + either 1 or 5 days

I need to calculate a investigation date which would be 5 days, unless the "foodborne Illness" cell is checked, inwhich case the investigation date is 1 day after the complaint date.

This is for a complaint log I am putting together. I want to auto populate the deadline for the inspector to initiate the investigation.

I also need to calculate a deadline for turning in the report which would be 10 days from the complaint date

Here are the formulas you are looking for:

1) Investigation Date

=if([foodborne Illness]1=1,[complaint date]1+1,[complaint date]1+5)

2) Deadline

=[complaint date]1+10

This is likely caused by your column type.

Ryan's formulas are written expecting the following:

[foodborne illness] is either a Checkbox or a Text/Number type

[complaint date] , [Deadline], and [Invesigation Date] are all Date type

The error tells me that the location of your formula is not a Date type.

You didn't say which cell was giving you the error.
