I have a number of sheets whom current owner are no longer in the organization and the email associated no longer active.

How can I retrieve the ownership of said sheets.

Thanks

    Hi Santino,

the admin of your account can:

There is an option in the user management (not in the new admin center) to transfer ownership of items belonging to an account.

    Hope this helps

  • Thank you, Stefan- I was able to ask my System Admin to transfer all sheets own by former members to me.

  • @Stefan What do I do if the person isn't listed in the Admin panel any longer? A member left and his assets are still owned by him, but our provisioning removed him from the Admin panel. I tried to add him back & it recognized him-even last log in, etc. but it won't let me do anything until he accepts the account. His email is decommissioned (for about 3 mo). Is there another way? I am an Admin for our Smartsheet account.

    thanks!

    Hi @Jamie Kruse,
    hmm, tricky.

    Have a look here:
    https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/2483118-asset-ownership-overview

As you are Sysadmin, you can use the sheet access report to identify items owned by the person.
Then yourself or any person seeing those items can request access. As the person who has left is not available, the request should be routed to you, or a to an "plan asset admin".
From there you should be able to move forward.

    Hope this helps

  • Thanks Stefan!! I ended up recreating his email, directing it to me and then accepting. Worked perfectly. We need to change the way we provision when someone leaves :)

  • Hey @Stefan,

The link you provide on the asset ownership was helpful. We are running into a similar issue as Jamie where the user was deactivated before we transferred ownership. Although the user is listed under "Deactivated", we're unable to transfer ownership as Smartsheet is saying they don't own any items (which is inaccurate based on an older report we downloaded). We've had a few people try to request access to an item but as a system admin, we haven't received any notifications requesting access even though no other user has access to the sheet. Any ideas?

    Thanks!
