Using the Duration value in a formula

I am working on a budget for a project plan and want to get the hours associated with a duration to do the math. All of the durations are input as days, i.e. 3d. Is there a way to understand in a formula that this is 24 hours. I have tried to reference the Duration column but am only getting the number the designation of days.
