Conditional Logic - Setting a Value
Hi -
I know a few months back Conditional Logic was added to the Forms which is awesome. I was wondering if there's anyway (that I'm not seeing) where I can use a Dropdown, Radio Button, etc. - to set the value of a Status field.
In other words, If Someone Selects Option A from the drop-down, then Status 1 is set, Else, Status 2 is set?
I'm guessing not because I just see the functionality as - if this field is filled in, show this field
Thanks for any help

You can't do it in the form itself, but you can leverage autofill to put a formula in the sheet that will work the way you need it to.
-
Interesting. So, can the autofill feature set the status value of the dropdown?
-
It can on the sheet itself after submission but not in the form.

To add to @Paul Newcome -
I believe he is suggesting adding a logical formula in your Status column that will populate the cell with the correct status based on what the user selects in the form. The autofill being referenced is likely the fact that adding new rows of data from your form will inherit this formula.
So basically,
- You add a nested IF statement that will populate your Status based on the Option selected by the form user,
- This formula autofills whenever new form entries are made

@SoS | Dan Palenchar Yes. That is what I meant when I said about leveraging autofill and putting a formula in the sheet.
-
Alright, I have to test this out - for some reason I've never come across that feature. I feel like I would have stumbled on that somehow by now.
Thank you

For autofill to work, there must be at least two rows above and/or below the new row that are of the same hierarchy and contain the formula. So you will need to "pre-fill" two rows with the formula before submitting your first form. Once at least two forms have been submitted, you can delete these two rows.

That part makes sense. I just didn't know I could update a drop down
-
Yes. There are very few instances where you cannot use a formula in a cell. System Generated columns (auto-number, created date, and modified date) as well as any columns used in your dependency settings when they are turned on. You also cannot use formulas to populate a multi-contact column with multiple contacts.
Every other instance you can use formulas to populate some kind of data. What kind just depends on the column type.

I hope you're well and safe!
I'd be happy to take a quick look.
Can you describe your process in more detail and maybe share the sheet(s)/copies of the sheet(s) or some screenshots? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help. (share too, andree@workbold.com)
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic weekend!
