Scanning QR codes
Hello everybody!
Ive got a QR code that has 3 lines of text, and when scanning it, they are merged into one string w/o spaces. Is there somehow I can scan the code, so that the 3 lines are put into 3 different columns instead of them being put into one column as one string?

Hi @AlanW
One possible workaround could be to use the URL-Query feature and add the information to a form.
- Scan QR code
- The form opens with the fields/columns pre-filed
- Gets added to the sheet in multiple columns
Would that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic week!

Has there been any improvements with the QR Code scanning functionality? If I'm not mistaken, the scanning option is only available on the app, not through the full web version, right?
My scenario is trying to populate a Form with multiple fields based on a QR Code to minimize the manual entry points of data and reduce the potential for human error. We are a manufacturing company with Part Numbers, Descriptions, Work Order Number, Warehouse, and possibly a few more constant parameters that we'd like to be able to scan that QR Code, populate those 4-5 fields on the Form, then the user could enter the free text options and any other remaining fields before submitting.
So far we had been talking about scanning barcodes for individual items, but we don't have barcodes accompanying all of these variables, maybe half of them. So trying to reduce the individual scans and total manual activities.
Appreciate any thoughts, advice, or full blown solutions. Right now we are developing the sheet, reports, and form associated with this process, so we aren't locked into anything particular, lots of flexibility to adjust as needed.
I found Use a URL query string to specify different default values for a form | Smartsheet Learning Center, but I'm not sure it'll allow for populating multiple fields at once.

- Yes, it supports multiple fields.
To include multiple fields in the URL, join them with an ampersand. For example, use:

Thank you @Andrée Starå, that was exactly what I was looking for. I was able to create a test URL with the form we are working with. Now we'll see what we can autogenerate for users to simply scan a QR and prepopulate a big portion of the form.

Excellent!
You're more than welcome!
I developed a client solution recently with a structure in Smartsheet for each manufacturing step and then pasted those codes in a Google Sheet to create the QR Codes for print.
