Add resources without adding users

I want to be able to manage our subcontractors on Smartsheet, but I don't want to add each person as a user (because they don't need, want or have access!). I already have them as contacts for automated reminders about insurances etc, but I want to start allocating them to projects. Can I do this?

You can add them to projects are resources, but you will not be able to see them in your resource view if that's what you want to do. Otherwise things should work fine. Are you having any issues/errors doing this?

Because it doesn't have to be a real email address and it doesn't need to be confirmed, you can add any email address as a resource, and that can be used to have Equipment or anything else as resources.

Thanks Andrée, I did think of that, but I use the contacts already for sending out automated reminders so I don't think this would work. I could duplicate each contact, one fake and one real, but I think it could get confusing!

You can use whichever email address that would make sense.

If you're using something as firstname.lastname@company.com for the contacts that you've added to Smartsheet. You can use something like subcontractor.firstname.lastname@company.com

Make sense, or do I misunderstand what you need?
